Christmas Morning

General Comments Off

When I think about Christmas, I always think about growing up with my four brothers. I had three older brothers, one younger brother, and two incredible parents. I remember waking up in my room that I shared with my little brother. We would all gather in our room, and wait for parents to wake up. We were strictly forbidden from entering the living room before they got up, and we never really tried to sneak a peek. We would gather at the end of the hallway, right out side my room once my parents had gotten up. We had these little platic bells that played music. My mom would turn the music on, and we would go rushing down the hallway. Looking back, the time we spent together was far more valuable than any gift we ever got.

Fire safety is a major issue in some of the Asian countries like India where low importance is given to it. Lot of schools and buildings has suffered fire accidents and people have lost their loved ones. Due to these accidents, government have stepped in and issued a rule to keep a small wet chemical fire extinguisher in every school and buildings. Fire drills are being done in schools to escape when these accidents happen. Fire department is beefed up to handle such circumstance where big accidents might happen. Like the first aid training fire safety also must be taught in schools so that students know how to avoid such accidents.

I Love to Run

General Comments Off

I am a physically fit person who loves to excerise and play sports, but above it all I love to run. Running is the perfect way to start your morning.  You’re all alone on the road.  It’s just you and your thoughts. No matter what you have been stressing out about lately, for about an hour it all goes away. It really gives you a quiet time where you can really think about any problems and possible solutions. And on top of that, it is very good for you.  It lowers your resting heart rate, and just leaves you feeling good.

Last night I had one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, Brakfast for Dinner. I really love breakfast, and could eat it all day long. We started off with extra lean Jimmy Dean sausage patties, cut nice and thin.  Then I made some little biscuits and scrambled some eggs in the little bit of grease left behind by the low fat sausage.  There is nothing like a home made sausage and egg biscuit sandwitch. You get so used to ready prepared food, its nice to do it yourself. The finish it off we had butter grits, and the best part was I had left overs to bring to work this morning.

Greedy CEOs

Every day I hear something on the news about a greedy CEO and his tremendous paycheck. Nevermind that his company is falling apart and laying off of tons of hard working Americans.  At least his private jet is running smooth. I think as long as we keep things how they are, and CEOS are allowed to do those sort of things we’ll remain in this recession. I get so mad thinking about that stuff as I try to figure out how I’m going to pay my mortgage, or afford to keep my car. With the way prices keep soaring, I just don’t know what to do.

Back to Normal

General Comments Off

Today has been a stressful day, but also a great day.  My wife has been out of work since our third child was born, and our finances have gotten worse and worse during that time.  Our savings account is down to $5, and we had to empty our children’s college funds as well.  We have been late on our house note the past two months.  But she started work again today, and we were both up at 5:00am getting our kids bags together for day care.  I’m so tired from getting up so early, but I’m excited about us getting back to normal.

The Internet age has sparked this curious phenomenon where everyone brain-dumps for the whole world to see. While I know that there are some people who legitimately have interesting things to say in whatever field they specialize, but some people seem to blog just to hear (or see) themselves talk! Maybe I’m just not passionate enough about anything to feel the need to express my opinions for the whole world to see, but the idea of it still doesn’t sit well with me. I suppose that online blogging may not be much different than editorial articles in a newspaper or magazine.

Fire

Main Posts Comments Off

A house or an apartment is not complete without a fire extinguisher and here is why – a fire doesn’t decide where or when it will happen. A fire does not care that you don’t have homeowners insurance and will not be sympathetic if you just moved in or have been there for years. It doesn’t make any sense not to have an extinguisher handy, hanging in the kitchen or placed under the sink. It’s also important to have a fire alarm hanging in the home, one near the kitchen, one in all of the hallways, one or two in the basement, and one in the attic. If that seems a little extreme ask the people who have had fires start in those rooms, it wasn’t until the smoke hit the main fire alarms did they know they had to get out of their homes. Meet with your local fire fighters to get additional advice about fire safety, some even supply free small afff fire extinguishers and fire alarms.

Condo Woes

General Comments Off

I never would have believed three years ago that I’d regret buying my condo. But now I do. I have lived in a small condo complex in the suburbs for nearly that long and I yearn for the day when I can move to a single-family home. I made the mistake of accepting a position on the Board of Directors, so now I have to deal with more than just my neighbors walking overhead. As a board member, I am often cornered by neighbors who want to complain about everything from the state of the asphalt in the driveway to the annoying resident who lives above them. I certainly hope that building equity was worth the trouble!

"Hot dog"-Sweater

Since when does New England see a temperature anywhere close to 70 degrees in December? Apparently we do today. And the planner in me failed to check the weather forecast last night, so I am very inappropriately dressed in boots, dress pants and a sweater. Yes, a sweater. Plus I even wore a jacket to the office. I was practically perspiring in the car while running errands at lunch! But today is a rare day when I actually feel rather put-together instead of frumpy and sloppy. I’ll note this outfit as one to wear again this season, hopefully when the temperatures are where they should be at this time of year!
