In my 25 years of existence, I have always been in the company of my family. I was still living with them even in my university years and even after finding a job. But then, I felt I had to widen my horizons and improve myself and our standard of living. That is why I came to New Zealand, land of the free. It opened so many opportunities for me and I got a very good job. I am able to travel here too, which is one of my passions in life. Even though this is far from home, I know I made the right choice. I am open to still go further, to places unknown to me. That is an exciting experience.

Let us say I won $1000 from a game show and I am allowed to spend it on anything but only in one store. First thing that comes to my mind is Kathmandu, the travel and outdoor store. I love to travel and try outdoor activities. And with these activities, one has to have proper gear. Kathmandu offers a variety of clothes, travel equipment, bags, etc. But they often come at a price that exceeds my budget. So lucky me if I had an instant thousand dollars. I would spend it on jackets because they produce really high quality jackets and I like their style. I need it especially winter is approaching.

A Helping Hand

The National Health Service Norfolk and Norwic...

After graduating from university, it took some time before I landed a real job as a healthcare professional. I had to review for the local board exam and accomplish papers for that. During that time, I did private tutorials for grade school children. Either I would visit them in their house or they go to mine, whichever is convenient. It was an easy job, although low income and it was part time. I enjoyed it and I thought it was better to do something than nothing while waiting for a real job. Then at last a real job opportunity knocked on my door and I grabbed it instantly. The hospital that hired me is one of the biggest specialty hospitals in the country and they paid well too. And being a specialty hospital, they were able to provide me the training I need to further enhance my skills. I could say that I love my job as a healthcare professional where I can extend a helping hand to the sick and their family. It is a rewarding and fulfilling career.

I have my own lists of things to do and places to go. Greece ranks as first on my list. Greece, more formally known as Hellenic Republic, is located in Western Europe and has got a long history. It has a Mediterranean climate with very cold, freezing winters and hot, dry summers.  So why do I want to go to Greece? First, as I have mentioned, it has a long history. I want to go there to learn more about its past and how it shaped its present. Greece is also home to a colourful culture and I believe that it would be a different experience for me. Lastly, Greece is a beautiful country that offers unique landscapes, historic locations and calm seas. That is my dream vacation, on a yacht, sipping juice, enjoying tranquillity.

Rock n Roll to go

General Comments Off

Rock music has always been a family affair for me. My father grew up playing the drums and me and my brother learned the guitar. There are a lot of different rock styles which make the genre so appealing to me. I have never been in a band but I would like to start my own someday. Some of my favorite rock bands are Aerosmith, led zeppelin and black sabbath. The genre I least like in music is rap. For the most part of what I’ve heard, its all the same stuff. They do have different beats but almost all African Americans talk about is money and woman. It seems like there is very little diversity in this type of music, and that makes it unlikeable for myself.

The farthest place I’ve ever been away from home was when I was shipped off to Iraq. That wasn’t the first place I went though. When I signed up for the army reserves I was first shipped off to basic training at fort Knox. This was 6 weeks of full on conditioning. Me and my friends all ran many miles each day, and learned how to clean load and fire our weapons. We also endured a vigorous ropes course. After basic I was back home for 6 months before I was shipped over seas. Fighting in a foreign country is definitely exciting and an experience I will never forget. The people over there are so different from the everyday people I see, and thinking about them makes me happy.

Salmo trutta with fishing rod

If I had 1000 dollars I would spend it all at gander mountain. The amount of outdoor products and equipment you can buy there always makes me happy. I love to fish and they have just about every fishing rod and piece of bait and tackle you could ever want there. They even have live bait and licenses. I love to hunt as well and they not only sell rifles and munition they also sell licenses, camouflage and bows. Camping is a big part of where I spend my vacations every year so id make sure to buy a nice portable grill, giant tent and a couple coolers. I have never been kayaking before but id like to try and  I know I could buy a kayak and ATV to haul it on there as well.

I have had three jobs in my whole life. The first was newspaper boy. This job was very difficult because I had to wake up early and go out on my bike before the sun was out. Also the pay was minimal and winters made it unbearable. The second job I had was driveshaft manufacturer. This job taught me a lot of how to work in a warehouse and make a product. In this job I learned to weld, write invoices, diagnose a problem and secure inventory. My third job would have to be my favorite though. Working as a manager for papa johns pizza was a great experience. I met a lot of new people each day. Was solely responsible for making the product. Had a big influence in customer service and promotions. And also got to hire employees that I wanted to.

My Dream Vacation

General Comments Off

I think if I could anywhere in the world I would go to Dubai. After reading a recent article in national geographic I have take great interest Dubai. The types of culture there seems out of this world. The architecture and buildings there are mind blowing. I have never in my life seen such amazing structures and landscapes created by humans. Also I would like to visit Dubai to learn more about the lifestyle of its residents. I have heard many stories that say the actual native people there are mostly very poor and they get hired to do construction for all the rich people. It seems like the economical scale over there is very tipped and uneven.

Scaredy Cat

Many people look at someone and think they know what makes them tick, what makes them who they are. They’re usually wrong. If you were to look at me, you would think that I have self-confidence issues, or that I feel uncomfortable around people; and then you see me around people, and you realize how wrong you are. I love to talk to people, and I love myself just the way I am, but one thing people don’t realize, is that I am terrified of being alone. Not alone as in someone needs to come with me to the bathroom, or I can’t be left home alone, I mean in the sense that you have no one to turn to, no one to talk to, no one to tell you that everything is going to be okay. For me, I thrive with others, and none of them realize how much I need them, too.
