The danger of a fire starting in the home is real. However, there are a few simple things that can be done to reduce the chances of a fire or reduce the impact from one. Start with having an exit plan. Insure that everyone in the home is aware of the closest escape routes for exiting the house. Next, make sure your fire alarms are working, and replace batteries as needed. Also, if you don’t already have fire extinguishers, you need to get at least one. They are simple to use, so every in the home should become familiar with how they operate. Just taking these few simple steps can possibly save you from expensive fire damage, and more importantly, it may save lives.
